Whalen Construction provided Owner’s Representation for the Dominican Order on three phases of construction projects over a four year period. The House of Studies is home to the Dominicans’ Theological College and various other Dominican organizations. The main building was constructed in 1905 and had only seen marginal improvements over the years.

Phase I

Construction of a new 28,000 square foot building that houses the college’s library, classrooms and administration. The library is attached to the original building and was designed to match the structure from 1905. Master planning with the design team to ensure all facilities onsite were brought up to code and planning for future use of the facilities.

Phase II

Interior and exterior renovation of the original priory building built in 1905. The limestone façade was cleaned and repointed. The old classrooms and faculty offices were completely gutted and renovated.

Phase III

Complete HVAC upgrade to the original priory building and conversion of one wing of offices into residential suites.
